Handmade for the Holidays

Though I slipped up once or twice (books, always alluring), I mostly bought handmade for Christmas this year. And, over the past few days, I made a lot of goodies to give away, including the incredible coffee toffee pictured above. The recipe is from the inimitable Smitten Kitchen.

Thanksgiving

We stayed home this year and cooked a feast with some local friends. It was bountiful, warm, and delicious. It was, in its own little way, life-affirming — even the semi-stressful bits, the hiccups, and the puddles of spilled gravy, water, and wine.
